I believe yoga is for everyone regardless of age, ability, weight, size, sex, or religion. My practice and classes are based on years of athletic performance, teaching experience, literature, intuition and certification. My goal is to reintroduce people to their bodies and their environment with a new found respect and excitement.
Whether you're looking to overcome stress, injury, or the athletic plateau, there's a place for it on the mat. If we can learn to BREATHE and STRETCH, we can find more enjoyment in every aspect of our lives. I firmly believe that we are in control of our bodies.
Emily fell in love with the possibilities of the human body in college, as an avid athlete and connoisseur of exercise science, anatomy and physiology courses at Kansas State University.
She began practicing yoga in 2001 and was drawn to the freedom, strength, and focus gained in its practice. Shortly thereafter Emily became a certified instructor through
Yoga Fit Training Systems and Yoga Alliance, and began teaching in 2003. That summer proved to be a foundational one, working as a counselor and instructor at Camp La Jolla weight-loss camp for women. Learning the importance of pose and language modification to suit this group of very overweight students shaped her viewpoint on teaching ever since.

Since then, she’s taught people of all ages, shapes and abilities in states across the country, in any location where there’s enough room for arms to stretch out! In 2006, after a year of living in Florida, Emily started Dancing Bear Yoga, intended to extend safe and uplifting yoga to as many lives as possible, and did that--teaching 20+ classes and 100-150 people every week!
Emily's practice and teaching soon grew from its fitness foundation, and blossomed into a style that promotes grace, patience, gratitude, self-respect, and love. Her skill is in her ever-changing and intelligent sequencing that is appropriately challenging, envigorating, and soothing all at the same time.
Lake Lure, NC became her home in August, 2009 after giving birth to Samantha Campbell in March of the same year. She immediately started teaching at Rumbling Bald Resort, and currently offers 3 yoga classes there as well as a couple of fitness classes. Her mission is once again expanding her schedule to teach in Lake Lure, Hendersonville, and wherever her love is needed. Emily's biggest project is starting and growing a Community Yoga Class in the town of Lake Lure that truly welcomes ANYONE to join their neighbors in a community health initiative!
"Take up space!"
In other words, get up and move yourself!
